Romania – Japan – USA the road to success in nanotechnology for the Romanian Ruxandra Vidu

Graduate in Science of Materials at Politehnica University of Bucharest and later assistant professor at the same University, Ruxandra Vidu gained a PhD Scholarship at the University of Osaka in Japan, offered by the Ministry of Education of Japan (Monbusho), becoming the first woman professor which received a PhD scholarship in the country.
During the 3 years spend in Japan, Ruxandra Vidu published 7 papers
After completing the PhD studies in Japan, Ruxandra Vidu continued the academic work at University of California Davis, where she became professor
Her academic work is rewarded with numerous honors and awards, including: UNESCO Silver Medal, International Exhibition for Creativity and Innovation; University of California Institute of Energy, 2001-02 Awards, UC Energy Institute Energy Science and Technology Projects; UC Davis Postdoctoral Scholars Association (PSA) Travel Award; California Energy Commission (CEC), 2002 & 2006 Energy Innovations Small Grant (EISG) Award.
She is a member of the American-Romanian Academy of Arts and Science, author of four books and owner of 9 patents for inventions
She is currently an associate professor at University of California Davis, founder and director of the company Bloo Solar, where she implements one of her inventions in solar panels.
